I can't believe nobody's mentioned MS's new drivers (ver. 4.01). They're awesome. Finally, we can remap the buttons to whatever we damn well please, plus they added "wheel acceleration" which basically means no more tendonitis of the middle finger.

this wireless optical mouse sure is cool though. i can't wait until this design is given a cord - it may look funky with the PLAYTEX-WINGS bottom, but those are thumb HOLDERS(haha) which are a godsend. this is one slick puppy. If you get a chance, stop by best buy and fondle this mouse (MS wireless optical explorer) - I'm sure you'll be impressed. Unless perhaps.. if you're left handed.

I'm not a fan of M$, but the new optical mice they released are very solid.
They do Not skip or otherwise tweak out, and it seems as if they've altogether eliminated problems that come from picking your mouse up to re-position it on the pad.
Dirty mice and expensive(ratpadz, surface 1030)pads with dead spots have been the BANE of my game-playing existence for WAY too long - I have PILES of dead mice and mousepads in my room and now the fucking madness can finally end.
It was $50 at CompUSA.

My friend won a RB2000 didn't like it, sent it to me and the POS just sits there. I have tried like 4 times to try and get used to it but i just can't stand it. Would be a good mouse if the ball placement wasn't so hopeless. The mamba they were designing looked like it would be better after fixing the ball placement but I'll be damned b4 I pay $100 for a mouse. Its not that crucial.

Man... everyone talking about mice and "high prices" makes me wonder. I currently own 5 MS optical mice, including the v1 and v3 explorers, the new wireless, and the 'intellimouse optical' along with a boomslang 2000 and i have the new logitech double barrel thingy pre-ordered from logitech's store..

I knew i was a super geek, but damn.. You guys are hurting my feelings, really.

You know what gives me my competitive edge? My Logitech Trackman Marble Wheel, fockers.
Thumb on trackball, fingers work the buttons and wheel. Doesn't get much easier to use.
None of that retarded fingers-attempt-to-use-the-trackball-while-my-thumb-clicks-the-buttons shit either. Just a nice normal thumb trackball.

I can say that the only difference I see in the opticle mouse or standard ball mouse is no sticking.

I've never noticed any of those flicking problems people have unless i move my mouse as fast as I can back and forth on my screen which, i tend not to do while gaming.

I'll have to agree; ever since I bought the new IntelliMouse last Friday, I have relearned the art of quick mouseflicking. I've even saved my ass in CS a few times by mouseflicking. Before, if someone caught me off guard, I was a goner, but now I at least have a faint chance.

Logitech iFeel MouseMan optical all the way baby..! I agree with #16 plus it just looks great with the blue led-ified logo, rubber side grips, and metallic blue finish. The shape is just perfect for my hand and I find my aim is improved due to the "forward pointing" feel of it. I don't like the bottom feet though - need more height and slipperiness - I was actually bottoming-out in the heat of battle. Easy to fix though. I just glued some pads from an old Amiga mouse I had lying around and now it feels as if it's hovering over my ratpad. Probably pick up the dual-sensor version too...

I use a Logitech Mouseman I-Feel mouse and I love it. It's the same shape as the Mouseman Wheel I have at work, but it feels lighter and the plastic feels better. I play shooters all the time and I never had any problem with "flicking". I also never had problems with lifting the mouse and moving it over. I would ever say it's better, because there is no problem with the ball's inertia causing slip, that would happen sometimes in ball mice.
And the fact that I never have to clean it is great.

I think the Microsoft optical mice are basically the same but built for bigger hands, Logitech and MS seem to split their mice like that along hand size... I hope MS starts using I-Feel tech too, it's really fun in Tribes 2, now that Serious Sam 2 will use it hopefully support will gain some footing.
