New Quake3 ThreeWave!

I played the hell out of this last night after I got around my problems for some reason when trying to connect through the ingame browser it wouldnt work, so i kept finding servers listed on a page and connect via console.

I really really really want to like this. I played the hell out of q2ctf back in the day. The q3 physics just dont do it for me, I feel like this is a racing simulator more then CTF. Not that much teamwork, just whoever runs faster then hell with the flag. With q2ctf your ass was slow, so you needed teammates and help.

The maps and portal system are really really nice. I would love this if it has q2 physics.

Also the railgun is still useless, that one second delay shit sucks ass. It cant be my aim, I fired up q2ctf last night for about 30 mins and still had my abilities...hehe

This mod really, really needed and should have been released in early 2000. Or even sometime in 2000 at the latest. Now; here we are almost 3 years later after Quake3's release...

This reminds me exactly of the very late release of a Q2ctf map pak that most of you probably, more then likely, never even played, let alone ever remember being released, because it was released so late. I'm talking this map pak for Quake 2 was released during the time of the q3test!

Why ThreeWave WHY?? You kill me with your late releases. These things were meant to be played and yet you insist on releasing them when a game is dead and dieing and passed it's prime.


And if your wondering about what Quake2 file I'm talking about, it was the 1.50 upgrade for CTF.

Dated 1/7/1999. I think we were watching the Apple movie of Quake3 and looking at screen shots and fooling around with the IHV version at that time...

A word to mod makers:

If your going to make anything, get it released ASAP after a game's released. The longer you wait, the fewer amount of people are going to play it and the less it's even going to get played.

That goes for all the Quake3 mods like Navy Seals which will never be released and Quake3 Rally which will never be released and a bunch more which will never be released.


DNF? DOOM3?

This long wait between now and then reminds me of that FPS "drought" we had after the release of Quake2. It was a long time then before we got any new games.

Hey 3DRealms, that Unreal engine must be a real bitch to mod for? Bet their wishing they had just released what they had on the Quake2 engine.

As a Shack member I will download it tonight. I am really curious because I absolutely loved the last threewave for Q3A. I still think wctf2 is one of the best maps ever. But I am afraid that as an ex-hardcore Quake3er, I am bored with Q3A. Now I am more into Wolfenstein, which I really love.

jesus i plugged all those mirrors into flashget and got over 600KB/s! I've never seen my cable modem go that fast.

All flames aside.. do people still play q3? I mean, i've not had it installed for about a year now.. has it been that long already? I don't even know where my case is (put the cd key ON THE FUCKING CD, NOT THE FUCING CASE IDIOTS) if i wanted to play anyhow.

So, is this any good?, I guess I'll queue it up and download it on the 18th (DSL installation date, assuming BT don't fuck up)

This mod is NICELY done. Feels wierd to have Q2CTF game dynamics in the Q3 engine. :)

First q3 mod ever to crash q3 for me. First thing I id was click "multiplayer," chose a q3ctf4 map with a 60 ping, and Q3 hung. Had to force end task on it...

I must find DuckTales episodes. or even Chip n Dale's Rescue Rangers.

i join a game and it seems settings dont work and then when i exit the map, im back in "quake 3" and it crashes randomly...oh well my shit must suck

i will get in trouble if i download this at work, too big... and on dial-up at homo... :(((

I find it hilarious that the 3wave mod knows where my Q3 installation is (c:\q3) yet the Q3 updater I must manually enter the path each time...

Well, I found the first bug: the primary lightning gun firing sound (the thunder crash) plays only the first time you pull the trigger, and never again until you switch teams or reconnect/restart the server.

hmmmmmm maybe i might start playing q3 again
