Drakan2

by Steve Gibson, Sep 17, 1999 9:31am PDT

It looks like a sequel to Surreal Software's Drakan has been confirmed. Check out this link I spotted on AGN Details you ask? Check:

No details at all? “We’ll be basing the game on the engine from the first title, though you can expect it to be updated heavily,” the spokesperson continued. “The second in the series will be developed at our Seattle offices.”

  • hehe yup. its me. Generations was sort of cool but it really wasnt id
who axed it. I was horribly bored of it and Quake2 and was just looking
    for an excuse ;)
The stuff i wanted to do in gen, like have the players be able to view
items of their class (i.e the Doomguy sees the Doom RL in dm6, while
the Quakeguy sees his) just wasnt possible in Quake2. Then there was
the problem with player speeds, midi music (i tried writing a proxy,
but there was a huge performance hit) and stuff like that. And lastly,
it was just getting so laggy with all the different stuff that was
added. Hopefully the Q3 clientside dll will have enough functionality
to allow me to do that stuff. What i really wanna do is do a huge-ass
single player and multiplayer mod in Quake3 with remakes of shareware
and dm maps from all 5 games (Wolf3d/Doom/Doom2/Q1/Q2). Now that would
be fun :) . But even if that was legally possible, you\'d need some
really talented modellers and artists to do that. So i really have no
idea whats gonna happen heh. Anyways, thanks for the good word man.
    Cheers.
