The official Tribes 2 download site has been updated with a Beta 5 patch, as well as a patch to drop it back to the most recent non-beta release should you change your mind. As noted in this list of changes at TribalWar.com, the patch contains a ton of tweaks, bug fixes and improvements, and implements the "VCR Mode" for demo playback.

New patch? Aww how interesting! You can keep on patching the hell out of it all you want, but that Tribes 2 has been off my hard drive for months and will probably stay that way. Kind of getting sick of a buggy game.. ya know? I mean.. this came out way back in March.

Back to good ole Action Half-Life, Counter-Strike, and Day of Defeat.

Tribes is alot of fun. pub play is a bit disapointing since t2 requires alot of teamwork for a team to be sucessful. but in competative ladder play it one of the best games around.

I bought T2 the first day it was available, and I played it about four times. It's a very fun game, but for some reason I haven't picked it up since then. It's not as engaging as the original somehow, and I'm having a lot more fun with Anachronox (just finished it) and Max Payne (just started it). Then I'll move on to Arcanum. Maybe it's just that the state of multiplayer is getting so ridiculous that for the vanilla 56k'er, it's just not too much...well, fun? I mean I'll log on and see someone moving so fast that it's more like a flash, and then *poof* I respawn. Times that scenario by seventy and the game loses its grip, ya know?

Is this the patch that.....ah, forget it. Tribes 2 is a pretty big disappointment to a lot of folks. I found it fun for a while, but after playing it more, I just got too frustrated with it.
