Dynamix Closing Official

by Steve Gibson, Aug 13, 2001 9:27pm PDT

Just for the late-nighters who are the non believers. It's been made official now that Dynamix is closing their doors as was reported here earlier. The corporate quote via GameSpot? "the decision was made in order to consolidate product development and marketing functions" Oooh.. nice one!

Sierra On-Line announced today the closing of its Dynamix studio in Eugene, Oregon. 97 employees will receive competitive severance packages and outplacement services.

  • To all you BUTTHEADS who say "PC gaming is dying"
    WAKE THE FUCK UP!!!!
    1. consoles are made for the brainless masses (this means you).
    2. consoles sux and are no threat to pc gaming.( and don't even try this xbox or game cube shit, do you know how much faster your new gforce3 is than a gforce2ultra, maybe 15-20%, thats how much improvement is going into nextgen consoles, so with that in mind consoles will reach todays pc's in 5 to 7 years and in that time pc gaming will be amazing.
    3. as far as software makers running to consoles, well they made sux games only brainless kids (see 1.)would like or buy.
    4. Games will be harder to sell, PC gamers want a better game, not 30 clones of the same old shit.
    5. Halflife was a good game, everything that followed (CS) suxed.
    6. Does your mom know you read ShackNews! youpimplefacecan'tgetajobgotaps2orxboxformybirthdaybitchsoconsolesrulefaggot

  • outplacement services = you can go to a place and use a shared cubicle, where you can make phone calls, make photocopies, read job postings, and use a word processor.

severance pay = "we'll take what's in your pension fund and give you a check for that amount + a month's pay" (probably)

    Future of Tribes 2?

Sierra will probably "support" Tribes 2. That means bug fixes. No feature changes or free map packs.

Future of Tribes 2? Some mods will go over to the V12 engine from Garagegames, either in a full game with the source code purchased, or with the free "modable" version.
