A big of Athlon news for you guys to chew on this morning. It looks like AMD is cutting some prices on their K6-2 systems which is good news folks on a budget. Also, Blue spotted this REGISTER article with some speculation on the K8 CPU being some re-hax0red K7's.

  • Uhm, maybe I haven\'t had enough smack this morning or something, but that ZDNet article says that the Athlong prices are holding steady. It\'s the K6-2 prices that are falling. A little snip:

    Athlon price holds steady
Despite the movement on its K6 line of chips, AMD of Sunnyvale, Calif. has also held steady the prices on its high-performance Athlon chips. Athlon chips range from $815 for the 650MHz version of the chip to $249 for the 500MHz Athlon chip.

So unless yer planning on buying a K6-2, don\'t get all slap-happy just yet.
