Dusk till Dawn Demo

French gaming site Joystick has a demo for the 3rd person shooter From Dusk Till Dawn. It's a 68mb download. Considering Cryo is a French publisher, this is probably a French version (I'll know in about 10 minutes) of the demo so you might wanna wait for the English demo unless you're feeling frisky. Thanks Voodoo Extreme.

Update: Looks like it's an English language demo after all.

  • Wow, I actually brought myself to try and beat the demo, but I couldn't...

BECAUSE OF A SHOW-STOPPING BUG THAT TRAPS YOU IN AN ELEVATOR AND THERE'S NOTHING YOU
CAN DO. I couldn't "use" the elevator switch, and I was locked in. Excellent! And
my objective was to take the elevator down a floor.

Also, there was a "mini-boss fight". After a cut scene showing 2 vampires, one said
"finish him, and leave the tasty morsels for me". Then the game cuts back to your
view and 2 vampires run up on both sides. I thought I was fucked, then I realized
the AI was totally brain-dead and they just stood there as I killed them at my leisure.

WAY TO HEIGHTEN THE IMMERSIVE FACTOR!

  • Well, I really tried to give this game a fair chance, but HOLY SHIT did they fuck up
the most BASIC shit. Just wait. Download the demo and marvel out how absolutely IDIOTIC
the setup utility for the game is. It took me more than 5 minutes to even boot the fucking
game up. I couldn't figure out any way to get it to 32bit either, even though it clearly
made the distinction that it was going to run in 16. Guess I needed to change my desktop
    to 32bit.

The game itself is pretty simple and nothing that fun. Then again, my tastes in games is
alot different than most people on the Shack (I didn't like Serious Sam AT ALL). In this
game, you basically go from room to room and shoot shit that jumps out from every angle (ok,
sounds like most games, right? Well i also mean they jump out of vents and from rafters, etc)

The only high part of it was the fact that some vampires will crawl across the walls and ceilings, like the aliens in AvP. I died far into the demo when I killed myself
with a grenade launcher. From what I saw, it looked like the explosion killed me through a
wall when I tried to bounce it into a corridor from safety. The part I was on actually
promised to have some cool stuff (SWAT guy with a riot shield was laying suppressive fire
in a hallway so I couldn't get through).

Btw, the whole plot of the game is that you are a prisoner on death row on a massive prison
complex and well, so is another vampire. His vampire brother and gang come to rescue him
and well, needless to say, everything goes to shit and the entire prison complex is overrun
by vampires. In the demo, you, and chaplain, and a security guard with one arm severed are
the only survivors besides some stray prisoners who look like the badguys from Redneck Rampage.

I really like how they don't tell you that f1 switches perspectives even in the control config,
and I also like how they give you what appears to be EVERY GUN IN THE GAME to start off with,
so not only is the demo barely a challenge at all, but also the whole game's arsenal is spoiled.
    blah blah blah blah, fin.
