ATI preps A3 alternative to Nvidia's nForce is a story on The Register, speculating about a possibility that ATI might come out with a chipset similar to the nForce. It might support the Pentium3 and the Athlon, but more likely it will also have a Pentium 4 version since ATI has a license. We should see more of this in the fourth quarter of this year.

Im currently looking to build an amd athlon system with a 1.4 TBird processor, no all i need is the motherboard, what are some good mobo solutions that support DDR ram, and basically no intergration, i hate intergraqted products with a passion ever since packard bell had the modem/sooundcard/vibrator/ram/cpu/etc on one bord soderd into my computer.... can we say paperweight?. anyways whats stable, cheap, and realiable? any suggestions, links, reviews, shops? =)

Who cares about ATI? They dual head card the VE I think it was, was the worst card in the world. I ended up just putting a GF3 and a voodoo 3 in my main machine. My GF2 MX is way better as well, athlough I really wish it could do 5096x1536 so my 22" monitors would be happier.

This thing will probably have a sucky AC97 knock-off codec that uses the CPU as a DSP.

No thanks, I'd rather take off my pants and sit on an SBLive.
