  • heh.

Ever since I started my job, I've left notes for the next person in (if I am closing and they are opening the next day) to let them know what's up and any issues they might need to be aware of.
One of my coworkers, who has been in the department the longest of all of the video employees (though only a few months longer than myself), decided that communication is good and that we *must* leave notes for each other, even if we can talk to the person who is coming in to close (if we are opening).
I tend to get everything done (as best I can), so I don't leave many notes anymore.
    This will not stand.
I am told that I need to leave a note for the next person and that I need to leave a note for the guy that has been in video the longest.
He believes that he is being helpful or something by writing down everything that each person should do, even if it should be understood (like straightening the department, helping customers, closing at the end of the day, etc.).

These days, he keeps compiling a list of all the things NOT DONE!! The funny thing (though it's not very funny to me) is that he keeps blaming me for all the problems, when it is not my fault. He keeps telling me to remember my closing duties. Remember to do this, to do that. You know something? I always do. And I have. For weeks.
The problem is that he creates the schedule, then doesn't check it to see who isn't doing things correctly. A coworker of mine (the new guy) does not know all of the closing duties and is leaving the mess, but he isn't getting fussed at.
    I am.

In addition to that, the new guy doesn't organize the department (the daily maintenance), he doesn't fill the displays, and he forgets many other things. There's another guy (who only works 1 or 2 shifts a week) who doesn't do all of the things he should be doing, either. And lastly, they guy who keeps saying what isn't done (my guess is that there has been talk about a promotion and he wants to show that he can be a manager) doesn't do the daily maintenance when he works mornings (daily maintenance should be done in the morning. That's something they tell you early on). He also doesn't tend to fix the things that are "not done".

Which leaves myself and one other guy to try to run the department.

    Bleh.

If I actually leave a note for the guy who has been around longest, I'm going to give him a mess of sentences:

    Hey, [man]:
    - You didn't do the maintenance for today
    - You didn't check the toppers
    - You didn't check the impulse fixtures
    - You didn't check the endcaps
    - My feet itch
    - 4 times 4 does not equal 25.
    - You didn't straighten toys
    - You didn't sweep
    - You should really shave
    - Quit chasing the carrot.
