Games Going Forward
by Steve Gibson, Jul 23, 2001 7:08am PDTGeoff K. over at GameSlice made time between pleasing the ladies at E3 to check out some games. Here's a article described as the "Five Forward Lookers" that are games he anticipates will shape our gaming future. Freedom Force looks forward because it could really open up the RPG segment to a whole new audience. While the RPG genre is in a state of transition, Freedom Force could breathe new life into this long-underappreciated genre for all those who aren't into swords & sorcery and are tired of yet another sci-fi RPG along the lines of Anachronox/System Shock/Deus Ex, etc.
Strangely I dont see any mention of the upcoming Weakest Link PC/Mac game. Obviously Geoff lacks vision!

Sims online: sim old, sim old. Nope.
Freedom Force: fun ideas. All depends on the execution.
Star Wars Galaxies: Surrounded by Lucas nerds, and paying monthly? ROFLMAO!
Republic: intriguing.
On the immediate horizon, only Dungeon Siege and Project Eden look remotely like must-see games.
