Games Are Evil
by Steve Gibson, Jul 18, 2001 7:53am PDTBecause we all love to see those reports on violence and games. It's amazing how all these "experts" can come to such dramatically different conclusions. This time around videogames are evil again. Thanks TurdBlower

those last two lines just triggered echelon..
Here's an excerpt from the article:
"The investigators found that playing violent video games seemed to cause a weak to moderate increase in aggressive thinking and aggressive feelings, physiological arousal, and the likelihood of acting aggressively towards another person. "
So does playing football, basketball, tennis, baseball, boxing, UIL academic matches, growing up with abusive siblings, growing up with alcoholic/chemically-dependent parents, growing up in a strict religious household, etc. etc.
So should we ban everything that's competetive? So after this all-encompassing report, we can now form the perfect, non-competetive Utopian society? Yeah, right.
Here's my favorite quote from the "scientific report":
"Playing violent video games also decreased the likelihood the person would help another person."
Are we really supposed to take this seriously? Growing up in NYC decreases your likelihood of helping out other members of the human race. Should we ban that as well? Give me a fucking break.
