what was the original black and white version of 'the thing'? i heard that was supposed to be awesome. plus the book is great too. the alien tries to make a jet-pack out of the chopper and some fuel etc... :) if it gets to earth it will infect everything!

the best scene in J.C.'s version is where the three guys are on the couch and they are testing the blood and they find out the middle guy is the alien and he explodes and the two other guys are tied to the couch with it! rad

Sorry but BTiLC sucked donkey ass. I tried to watch it (again) a couple of weeks ago and couldn't force myself past the midpoint! It's horrible.

"The Thing" (1982) is unbelievably good though. I picked up the DVD a while back (Special Edition all the way, baby) and it's worth every penny I paid for it ($40). There's a tonne of extra stuff on the DVD with the story boards, the Making Of and all that good stuff a DVD really should have.

Don't ask me about Gladiator either. It's obvious that the Academy Award voters didn't watch any of the other movies when they voted this fuckin piece of shit as Best Picture for 2000. >(

The fact that Gladiator did as well as it did says something...come on this was kind of risky...Kirk/Charleton days have been long gone..

now enter Crowe..he rocked in this movie imho, and Richard Harris cmon the guy is a fucking legend=/ and I notice you guys have to dig deep down and pull big budget blockbusters from yesteryear out of your asses to even make comparisons because nothing in 2000 even came close=/

I think Gladiator was a pale redundancy of Braveheart. Braveheart was far better in practically everyway. It's a shame that Gladiator won a Best Picture Oscar, too, because it takes aware from the greatness of Braveheart.

Big Trouble in Little China was one of the TACKIEST movies ever made and I loved every stinkin SECOND of it to the last frame of celluloid! :D

Stargate was pretty good movie as well. A bit on the campy side now that we have these CGI orgies like Pearl Harbor, but my Artisan S.E. Stargate still holds up pretty well today.
