UT Decals

Well now, isn't it just UT day.. The guys at Unreality have a bit on decals system similar to Half-Life making it's way into Unreal Tournament. Apparently it wasnt in the game plan at first but Jack Porter from Epic had a little spare time and busted out with the good stuff.

Anyway, I'd pretty much finished my todo list for what needed to be done for UT so I figured I'd have a go at putting them into the engine. I hadn't done much digging inside the renderer so I thought I'd attempt them to get to know the renderer better - and if they worked in time we'd put them into UT and/or the demo. They took about 5 days to get working perfectly, although they were 90% done after a day or so.

  • #15: Yeah, Half-Life had jump pads. They sucked, though. They were really hard to use, and badly made. IMHO.

    And don\'t forget to mention the damage-tone (which I actually like) and the announcer, and the integrated tournament mode.

    I like how id doesn\'t take itself so fuggin seriously. Quake 3 is just a game, no more, no less. A fun game. And they know it, and treat it accordingly. Too many game companies forget that (cough-Epic-ahem-Valve-hrrm).

    #19: Shadduuppp.... Adapt. You liked Q1 and Q2? Well, Q3 is right down the middle.

  • sounds like the words of someone who constantly gets his ass handed to him.

    {{quake3 sucks and will never be as popular as quake1 or quake2 because it gets so boring so fast and is ping dominated (even if everyone had equal pings it would still suck though}}
    why? because you suck? you are an idiot, you say it was bad because of one issue, but if that wasnt an issue, it would still suck??? fool.

    you havent played Q3 yet you dumbass...you played a test...yes...a test...get it straight. Q3 will 0wn because of its mods...not the game itself...but its potential.
