Star Wars Galaxies Preview

PC Zone has posted a preview of Verant's Star Wars MMORPG Galaxies (thanks Blues News). There's plenty of info about the title through quotes from the developers. Really want to play this one.

'You can train your character in a particular way,' says Raph Koster, creative director at Verant. 'You could be a smuggler, and when you get bored, you can give up those skills and try something else.' Basing character profession on skills means that players can literally be whatever they want: bounty hunter, smuggler, mechanic, craftsman, even oyster farmer, writer, musician, bartender or hairdresser. And, unlike traditional RPGs, race will have no restrictions on what skills you choose to pursue.

  • In my opninion they really need to spend a BIG LOT of time and ressources on balancing stuff, this game is huge and with all the skills, planets, races, desire to make the game for both casual and hardcore player and let's not forget the living economy, if they don't balance all this finely the game is gonna be disapointing... atleast for me. I hate when things (abilities, equipments) are too fuckin hard and long to get, but what I hate even more is when they are too easy to get.

Anyway, only time can tell if they can balance it right and [dork talk] it's probably be as hard to balance than the Force itself [/dork talk].
