"These "celeb studios" all failed because they did not bother to setup a workable management system that could keep projects on track and handle employee discontent"

I did mention that (briefly) at the end of the article - developers just don't seem to make good managers most of the time, and it's hard to focus on designing your own game when you're also responsible for the running of the whole company, particularly if it's a big one like the ones we were talking about.

uhh, ROTT wasn't developed by or with id; the only thing about ROTT remotely related to id was that the engine was the Wolf3D engine taken as far as it would go.

The reason deus ex was so good was because it was so ambitious. He seem to contradict himself there.
