Haven't ordered Max Payne directly from 3D Realms yet? You're missing out on $10 now, as the pre-order price is now $49.95. It still includes the shipping and mouse pad. Retailers were getting pissy that people were cancelling orders to order the game cheaper from 3D Realms. If you did order already, you will still only pay the $39.95 price.

$50? Ehhh... Guess I'll be waiting on this one. I haven't paid more than $39.99 for a game since Gran Turismo 2, for which I paid $45.

There's just something about the $40 pricepoint. $50 is just... bleh. Max Payne is not a $50 game. The next Final Fantasy or (while we're on the subject today) Deus Ex is a $50 game (though I only paid $45 and $40 for FF8 and DE). Max Payne is not.

But...Isn't the whole POINT of online ordering (and soon, distribution) to minimize costs (shelfspace payments, end caps, store displays in general), and thereby reduce the cost to the consumer? Now they're going back on the whole concept because the brick & mortar retailers whined?

I'm not trying to advertise or anything, but this is a great site to buy games wholesale. They have lower prices on everytjomg, and you can snag older games for inclible discounts. I've bought three good games from them so far and spent less than 50 bucks. You might want to check it out.

oh, bitch, bitch, bitch! It's called competition: if you can't offer the same product with better promotions for less, than you're beaten. I guess the retailers threatened 3DR and GoD with dropping their bulk orders of Max Payne or something.
