Chipmakers Push Intel
by Maarten Goldstein, Jun 21, 2001 7:43am PDTAccording to The Inquirer, other chipmakers are pushing Intel to take legal action against VIA. VIA is working on a Pentium 4 chipset, the P4X 266. Chipmakers ALi and SiS both have a license to build Pentium 4 chipsets, but VIA doesn't (or so Intel claims). Because VIA's chip will be much cheaper ($28 vs about $40), SiS and Ali want Intel to sue VIA .
