The thing is... I've looked at UT source code and Q3 source code, and Q3 is far, far *far* cleaner and easier to use. So the only reason I can think of for using an unreal engine is price. Would be sorta "wacky-nutty" (ie. stupid) if they both cost roughly the same.

Hopefully they'll have some good large outdoor areas (that complex level in Deus ROCKED)
I doubted they would use the DOOM3 engine. there are NEVER any games that come out using id's new engine until id releases their game using their engine
cant wait for Deus Ex and Thief 3

Well, I suppose it could have been worse, they could have chosen lithtech. sigh

Doom3? Obviously I would love Thief and/or DeusEx using it but I didnt see if happening at all, were talking about an engine which is *not* complete yet, I dont see how id could be selling an engine which isnt even finished yet. The truth is probably, Doom3 was never an option, looking at the history it takes about a year or so before we start seeing third party companies releasing their games using the new id tech.
Take away Doom3 and you are left with Newest Unreal Tech, Lithech, Q3 engine, or in-house engine, by *far* my first choice there would be the new unreal tech, im sure these games will look amazing using it, obviously not a good as a doom3 class games, however perhaps the next iteration of ionstorm games can use doom3 tech, ie. I wouldnt be surprised if we see (if they get made) Thief4,DeusEx3 using an advanced Doom3 engine in a couple of years.
I'm happy with this, the future is bright as far as i'm concerned.
