CS Aimbot Interview

Punkbuster is not that great. Like the kid mentioned in the interview its only good for KNOWN cheats. What about people like him? that can write cheats with great ease, but don't give them out to the public? Punkbuster would never be able to detect cheats like that.

i can honestly say i installed this and farted around with the features. works as advertised. kills enjoyment of the game though. i will keep installed just for the tetris though. that is genious!

To all who hate this guy:

You guys look at this from the wrong perspective. Of course, you can look at this in many ways, but I see it like this: Counter-Strike has the worst community a game has EVER had! We whine about cheaters all the time and a good player has actually got no chance to get any trust from others. I know, because I am in the 2nd best danish Counter-Strike clan myself, and I get flamed all the time. Even if I use my real nick. People can't understand that I can make some headshots in a row.

Now to my point. Valve does shit. I am beginning to think that they are screwing us all. Of all the hired programmers, how many of them are actually working on preventing the cheating? I'd say a very few, if any at all. Sure, Erik Nilsson of that team does a little, but one guy is not enough. When I think of Counter-Strike, I think of two things: a cool game and cheaters. I was a successful Quake-player as well, and never did I hear about cheating! I mean, sure, there were cheats, but how many of them did actually work, and how many of them could you use on good servers with qualified server tools?

I also understand this guy about the fun a cheat brings. I have tried an OpenGL hack myself to find out how it all looks/works, and I must tell that it is damn fun to do those things. But on the other hand, I enjoyed it for a couple of hours, and got bored of it after that. I switched back because I still prefer CS as it is.

Some of you guys write that you wanna murder this guy. Grow up. First off, it's just a damn game, and if you are so bound to this game that you actually are ready to kill in reality, then you are 10 times worse than a cheater. You guys get no respect and you are loaded will bullshit. The pure bullshit.

I support this hacker in many ways because he finally let a widespread cheat out, and now Valve should get the damn pressure on themselves. I bet they first thought it was not that bad because not all did cheat. Now that it is a huge discussion that even appears in newspapers, I bet they are gonna think differently soon. Do you gamers actually have any confidence in Valve right now? Do you think this is THE company? I don't. I think they do far too little for us all. I am not asking them to prevent all cheating, because that is impossible, but even as little as showing engagement in this would be enough. I am almost sure I won't stick to Counter-Strike 2 because of all this shit.

Valve, you screwed it up. Repair this mess immediately!

Most interesting thing I read -- when he was on pub servers, he got accused of cheating when he wasn't wearing clan tags.... with clan tags it was no problem because he just had a reputation for being good. Makes you wonder how many of those "good" players in "good" clans really are.

Reminds me of that movie "15 minutes" where the bad guys get away through publicity...

It looks like cheats will be the death of the popular mod. You just cant have any fun if theres always one guy cheating. Anyhoo for a cheat free enviroment, with very similar gameplay to cs you should check out Urban Terror for q3a. I personally find it as boring as cs, but to each his/her own.

I'd like to thank XQZ2 for showing everyone the age of the Half-life engine, now lets all go play Urban Terror. =)

Reading his Forums makes me sad.. if anyone ever said that this is a small problem i think they were very very wrong, some bits:

Tribes 2 is the last fps online game for me in a long time.
The software developers need to make it harder to cheat, i know it always will be possible to hack but that doesn't mean we don't lock our doors..

What I thought was even more interesting was that 95% of the emails he gets are of players congratulating him on his uber cheat.

you know, i don't hate this kid for making a cheat. doesn't really bother me at all - go crack shit all you want. what does bother me is the way his and other people's cheats have changed the CS community. I can't spend 5 minutes on a server any more without someone accusing someone of cheating... even PB servers. it drives me nuts, and it's pretty much people like this who deserve to be bitch slapped for it

Someone should search for his cheat and get his email address from it (I'm assuming he's including his email addy in with the cheats, if he's getting fan mail) and post it on The Shack. Then everyone should start mass emailing him.

That would make it near impossible for him to look at his "fan mail" and the provider of his email would eventually shutdown his account due to the amount of email being received. Heck, he stated in his interview part of the reason for making new versions is because of his fan mail.

And if anyone ever got his ip address, that could just be posted too, and everyone could just Dos him constantly. I'd think that would make other future cheaters think twice about releasing their cheats.

hmm... i remember an interview with john carmack from a couple of years ago where he said that it's virtually impossible to make your game cheat proof, as there will always be somone smart enough to hack it. what can valve really do about this situation?

Now after the Beta1 release I've been sitting some hours everyday for three weeks to make improvements. Like better aim algorithms, VGUI menus and a Tetris game that you can play when you are dead and waiting for respawn etc.

This guy sounds like a fucking dumbass loser, but I want a Tetris game to play while waiting!!!

God, I just visited their forums... I can't believe there are so many pro-cheaters there. 99% were the typical "l33t" players with seemingly no education, but there was actually this guy who seemed to be capable of reasonable thought, totally defending the cheat/cheaters!

It made me sick... I wanted to reply to those bastards but it required registration, so I was like "fuck that" and left.

The most worrying part of this is that it doesn't work in Direct 3d.

How long until competitions request that everyone uses D3D as their display driver?

why doesnt he just make a final version so people can play on public servers with it but then PB will catch it. thats some sort of comprimise

valve should take the code for this cheat, and modify it so that when you install it, it wipes out everything in your registry and c:/windows/*.*

i just want to point out the obvious: the new found fun this guy was having with his cheat is not directly related to gaming.
he made it because he was so good at CS he got bored, so he says. the cheat made him appear even better while he had to work less for it. sounds more boring to me, gameplay-wise.
i mean it's not like the cheat makes it more fun to actually play the game. i guess it's about "owning" or something.

i can understand and appreciate the fun of creating such a piece of software. i can understand the fun in trying, testing and improving it. i can appreciate pointing out the security issues. all this would normally warrant my respect.
but i can not appreciate the lameness of actually -using- it. on a lan competition for * sakes, on public servers, and presumably also in online clan matches. this totally unwarrants any of my respect for this person. though he probably couldn't care less.
