Weekend Movie Review

Here we are again with the weekend and maybe this will actually become some kind of regular thing again. Here's a few recent movies that I've seen and my expert opinion on them that you arent allowed to disagree with. Just nod your head and say "you go girl!" or something.

6.7 - TombRaider: Bummer man. The movie just never really grabbed me. The action scenes were kinda fun and big boobies are always welcome but the whole thing just felt uninspired. Mortal Kombat still stands alone as the only halfway respectable videogame movie. 7.4 - The Animal: I'm a pretty big fan of brainless movies. The Animal was pretty funny at a few points but not really something I'd recommend paying more than a few bucks to see. Not bad.. but not all that great either. 8.7 - Evolution: Really pretty well executed. Interesting and enjoyable all the way until the end. The end just kinda sucked... they had this spectacular atmosphere created and then it just felt like they were thinking "oh man it's almost 2hours, lets end it quick!" and did so. Doh. Still very much worth seeing. 8.3 - A Knight's Tale: Fun movie, good to take the woman with you to. The lead wasnt very likable but the whole modernizing ancient times theme was entertaining on its own.

  • *SOME SPOILERS* Tomb Raider was cheesy, yeah. Quite frankly, I was amazed that you could make that many gratuitous scenes into one movie, nearly every damn scene was overdone.

Were there any highly quoteable lines? No. Were there some annoying things that made you realize it was based on a video game? Kind of. However, they avoided a bunch of plot bullshit, which made me happy. She doesn't have some annoying love interest, they got the audience thinking there was another shower shot and then panned down to show the guy (haha, got you!), and a guy from Red Dwarf was her butler. Oh, and the computer guy wasn't overdone (I wanted more lines for him at the end though).

BTW, how much did Sony play to have their computers plastered all over? I know Lara Croft is apparently rich, but why the hell would she keep her music on a Memory Stick? :)
