Half-Life DMC Today
by Maarten Goldstein, Jun 07, 2001 11:09am PDTThe Linux server version of Valve's Deathmatch Classic mod for Half-Life (see article) has just been released, weighing in at 9.7mb. Because I'm feeling nice you can download it from the Shack, and there's a mirror here. You'll need the latest server version of Half-Life to run this. The Windows client/server release will be at 1PM PST today (that's 3PM Central and 4PM Eastern time). Update: Blues News has the file now as well.

Isn't most of the 'fun' in computer gaming the anticipation-- waiting for screenshots, waiting for the SDK, waiting for the actual game, waiting for the patch so your computer can play it, and so on?

Couple of things I didn't like:
1. Weapon switching (I know there's a command to get rid of the weapons menu. I'll find it).
2. Can't get going fast, spin around & begin hopping backwards, maintaining my velocity while travelling backwards. That's HL for you though.
I never played Quake 1.
What are the differences Quake 1 and Quake 3????

Later on in 2002, I'm sure Valve will be hard at work porting Doom 3 over to Half-Life.
Holy christ valve, let it go! Forget that Sierra and Valve want to keep squeezing the nipples from Half-Life until the very nipples themselves no longer exist. Many developers are interested in creating new things, and then actually releasing them for everyone to enjoy. What are their interests? Does anyone respect their ethics any more?
