Intel on VIA & Nvidia
by Maarten Goldstein, Jun 07, 2001 7:37am PDTThere are some comments from Intel about VIA & NVidia saying they don't need these two chip makers at all. About VIA Intel VP Anand Chandrasekher said that they wouldn't be able to make a faster Pentium 4 chipset than Intel's own 850 chipset and while Chandrasekher thinks the nForce chipset is cool, he doubts it will find a place in the market.

My god intel will never change.
How many web sites have also had preliminary benchmarks of via's chipsets and proven intels chipsets now suck.
As for the nForce chipset Nvidia introduced Monday, Chandrasekher questioned whether there is a market for an integrated chipset that is not for low-end or corporate computers.
The man is a fool, if the nforce chipset is as good as it sounds, it could be the beggining of us all having alot more integrated machines, sure some of us techs used to hate them, but if it's actually done well and costs the same - soon our pc's might really be phased out for high end set top boxes, either way a sound card, and 2 network cards on the one board - is good to me - ESPECIALLY when the sound card is better than ANYTHING else out there... wow in my opinion
"Is the product cool? Yes," Chandrasekher said. "Does it meet the needs of the market? I don't think so."
See above quote - set top boxes (on a more high end scale) etc.
Chandrasekher said Intel learned the lesson last year that chipset makers should not push too hard on integrated graphics when it tried to force its 815 chipset into the mainstream.
ROFL i815, i think he ended his credibility even mentioning that piece of shit, nvidia's chipset is a mid range 3d card, and almost definately costing less than a board / video card combo - great deal to me
A clearer picture of Intel's near-term economic outlook should come later Thursday as the company is set to give a midquarter financial update.
read this carefully (hint, he's shitting himself - AGAIN!) - time to buy more via, amd and nvda stock.
Uh, the reason pushing the i815 into the mainstream didn't work is..
THE 3D PERFORMANCE SUCKS
the Nforce doesn't have that problem.. (theoretically anyways..)

Isn't that the famous physicist who first theorized the possibility of black holes? Did he use some kind of indian voodoo to get re-incarnated as an Intel exec?
