The EB1 Project
by Steve Gibson, Jun 07, 2001 6:52am PDTEB has finally launched what they've been talking about for so long. www.eb1.com is playing host to downloadable full versions of several games that you can "lease" for about $4.99. (Although the website seems to be dead right now). The concept is pretty much renting games over the internet. The games they have featured include some respectable titles and recent ones. Oni, Tropico, (Damn I lost my list!) and about a half dozen more. Does anyone think this will actually be something worth the time they put into it? Would you or do you know anyone who would use a service like this? It seems they are going after the very casual internet users but the problem is you need a phat pipe to take advantage of it. Those two demographics dont really seem to match up well together. Thanks fg

Demos are great, but I would MUCH prefer to play the whole game.

gets you cheaper on games you only play up to 5 times, and the other kinda games you gotta buy because of the box anyways.
a thing will be: how the FUCK do they want to make it safe against warezing?

Tropico
Oni
Serious Sam
Hitman
Unreal Tournament
Tomb Raider Chronicles
Thief 2
Most of which you can find pretty cheap to buy (thief 2 is 14.99 thru EBWorld)...
If it runs from online, it looks like it can't really be cracked... not like it matters since there's only a few games.
