by Steve Gibson, Jun 06, 2001 4:42pm PDTI'm ripping from ShackES!: Yesterday a website that normally focuses on busting cheaters decided to post two cheats - a wallhack and an aimbot - that are undetectable by Punkbuster. The site's owner did it in the hopes of compelling Valve and/or PunkBuster do something about the current state of cheating in Counter-Strike.
PunkBuster and Valve: The ball is in your court. CS Leagues: Suspend league play until Valve and or PunkBuster resolve this issue. We are sick of quick fixes.As a result of the cheats being posted, a huge number of Counter-Strike leagues have suspended play. Hostile Arena, Ironglove League, Stronger Than All, Rumble in the Desert, and BITE are all leagues currently taking a break, waiting for something to happen in the world of cheats, and cheat prevention.

take music, for example. before napster, people had been downloading music for years. it wasn't until all the retards in america had a point-and-click interface to download music did all this legal bullshit happen.
people have been playing on-line games for years. now that windows makes it easy for stupid people to get computers, there are more retards in the online community, which results in more retards needing to cheat. these are the same people who cheat in school, cheat their taxes, cheat at work, cheat on their spouses, cheat on each other, etc.
face it. people suck. and the stupid people are reproducing faster than the smart ones. it's only going to get worse, much worse.
the site that posted the cheats are among the stupid people. rather than be part of the solution, they showed that they are just part of the stupid people.

The CD-Keys of suspected cheaters are added to the list by a player vote, not by admins, with something like a 60%, 5 vote minimum. The penalities for having your key placed on this list can be progressive, i.e. 1st offense 24hr ban, 2nd offense 7 day ban, 3rd+ offenses 1 month ban, etc. The penalties can be more or less severe, but I believe that they should be universally defined (not configurable by the server). Since this proposed system relies on player ...opinions... to determine cheaters, two successful "you're cheating" votes on two different servers over some time period (such as a week) could be required prior to registering as one offense. This should lower the amount of players who have their CD-Keys wrongly banned, either mistakenly or maliciously. If your CD-Key is temporarily banned, you could still play on servers that do not subscribe to this system.
Of course I'd love to see some system, either in-game or some anti-cheat spyware like PB, that just "works" perfectly, but until then, player-community policing is probably the best option.

People wanted to make Diablo fun for themselves, and the game is ruined.
Quake 2 was nearly ruined by aimbots at one time.
That fucker at GSCCC ruined Phantasy Star Online with cheating claiming its his right to do what he wants.
Now we have this webmaster, who is taking it upon himself to make US play the game the way he wants.
Seriously people, look at how fucked up gaming has become in the last few years as it has matured into the mainstream.
I also think these professional leagues are bullshit anyway. Look what money cause to the rest of us who just want to have fun, all this goddamn cheating.
I think Blizzard, Sega, Valve, etc should find out who is actually ruining the game and take legal action. Including posting cheats in the first place.
And if what I say is bullshit and disagreeable, so what, its time to wake the fuck up, we have problems and something needs to be done...

I called it cheating because I've played enough online fps games to know cheating when I see it.
I don't play much CS because the cheating is worse than most games. There are new cheats out for almost every game you can think of. There is one site in particular that spreads this stuff..

Added the xqz2 aimhack for counter-strike. The xqz2 aimhack is currently at its beta 5 stage. The aimhack allows you to view players through walls (not see through the wall but see the player through the wall) and autoaims without the need for skins. There are 2 files, one of them is a zip the other is an exe.

Just some food for thought but... If the Counterstrike Gameplay was as fast as, say, Q3 Deathmatch, wallhacks wouldn't be as powerful. In Q3, the good players can hear where you are without wallhacks anyway, and the pace is so fast you can't really sneak up very well. Besides, when you die, it's pretty obvious where you'll be on a level. Good Q3 gameplay doesn't reward wallhacks because smart players could deduce that information anyway.

Require people to run in software. Fighting hacks is hard when you reach the level that it is now. I mean, in the Q1 time period, you had GL people seeing through water when software couldn't. Now you have people replacing their gl drivers (something that isn't even part of the game) to hack games.
The answer? Ban hardware acceleration from tounreys. I mean, come on, if you hare l33t, do you really need 200 fps? The most l33t peopel out there are playing CS on 486s. ;)

In Q3 players make footsteps most of the time, and the guns don't shoot through walls. Wallhacks therefore mean a hell of a lot less to something like Q3 than CS.
