Urban Terror Beta 2 Released
by Maarten Goldstein, Jun 01, 2001 5:27pm PDTAs promised, the Beta 2 of Urban Terror for Quake3 has been released. Mirrors for the 70mb download can be found here (and currently not on the urbanterror.net site for some reason).
What makes Urban Terror Beta 2 different than the previous releases. Here are just a few of the features which will debut in the upcoming release: all new damage system dubbed A.R.I.E.S. that features 21 different locations per model, newly designed and skinned player and weapon models with updated animations, 4 new weapons, visible items on models, all new weapon sounds and radio commands, completely redesigned user interface featuring interactive menus, three new team oriented game modes and new levels. Urban Terror Beta 2 will define our slogan, "Urban Terror - Where Quake Meets Reality."

1)Viewing some models totally freezes comp (waited for 5 mins...). had to restart
2)In-game, it randomly crashes most of the time.
Also..Upon restarting the mod, it doesnt remember/save my previous configuration and i have to re-configure... or just go edit the q3config. a bit frustrating here.
bah, its still worth the frustation anyways ;)
Needs more weapons and better models all around. Weapon accuracy is a nice change.
Good grief, it's better than CS! It just needs more maps. Hopefully this beta will convince some mappers to put some time towards this mod.

Got shot about 10 times and had enough. I don't like the slow pace of the gameplay and I want to play and not sit out in spectator mode and fly around. Capturing the flag is a joke in this mod! I spent more time running to the combat zone then I do actually shooting at something. I've never been a big fan of Rainbow6/Action Quake style games.
Give me doomtest!
does anyone else have problems when they quit q3 it dosent remember the options they chose in the menu (VERY ANNOYING)
i like the mod, but owuld like to see AQ2 style team mode (entire team re-sppawn, entire team die) kind of thing - cs has it i believe also?( havent played it since beta 5 i think)

interesting thing i noticed, players can be assigned as 'referees' to kick/ban etc. without having rcon
now if only I could actually play Q3 on my connection, I generally sit frozen about 90% of the time, neither Q3 or UT get along with 1-way cable :(

they are too fucking busy, making their "5'th counterstrike server" for one fucking isp!
i think most isp's who run c/s servers on AVERAGE run 2-3 now :( it's gay.
and like one "q3 dm" server
