AvP2 Preview

The new Computer Games Online has a preview of Monolith's upcoming Alien versus Predator 2, the sequel to the 1999 Rebellion game. The preview features quotes from Fox and Monolith folks and also has plenty of screenshots from the Lithtech powered game.

Some of the new weapons are a direct result of player input, even though some of the things players asked for didn't seem to make sense. "They wanted a knife and they wanted Hicks' shotgun," says Stalker, shaking his head in disbelief. "A shotgun? Why would you want a shotgun? Aliens would eat you before you ever got the chance to use it. We couldn't believe they wanted a knife. So we had a meeting and we said, 'Look, if we have to put a knife in, what the hell can we do with it?' We spitballed some great reasons you'd want to have a knife," he continued, "and we gave them what they wanted because we were able to come up with some really great gameplay reasons for you having the thing."
Saw that on Blues News.

  • Well, I think it looks f-in great. NOLF was fantabulotastical.

The postive bias I think I have revolves around the fact I never had the opportunity to play AvP 1 ... I can understand peeps that did play it having a diff attitude than I. I guess I was too busy playing HL and q2-to the Q3 techdemos and such ( I was and always be a QuakeWhore...)

I almost got the AvP Gold ed... then I heard about AvP 2 and decided to save my time and money for a "modernized" version ... I'll be grabbin this the day it hits the shelves. I have messed with the demos of the first game... they were pretty kickass ... but I never was "pushed over the edge" towards buying it.

here's my thoughts about how some folks think the screens and such are looking a bit too brightly lit and all: maybe they are just releasing/featuring those type of shots , because a pile of near black screenies with an Alien limb sticking out here or there or nothing visible 'cept a marine spot light would not show off the improvements they've made? just a thot.

I kinda remember a video shot over someones shoulder of a tradeshow (a pre-E3 one I fergit) demo ... the levels then looked reasonably spooky (the interiors NE way)...

looking forward to this sucka and max payne and u2 (whooda thot an id fanboi like meself would sey that?)
