First JK2 impressions
by Sander Pilon, May 17, 2001 3:34pm PDTGamespot has some more Jedi Knight II goodness.
... Raven, no stranger to visual splendor, is incorporating a lot of eye candy into the game as well. Lightsabers leave red-hot scorch marks in any surface they touch, including floors, walls, and pillars. Additionally, the developers have implemented the GHOUL 2 animation system from Soldier of Fortune II into Jedi Knight II, and they've doubled the polygon capacity of the Quake III engine. Overall, the single level we saw was impressive, especially considering that Jedi Outcast: Jedi Knight II has only been in development since February of this year. LucasArts anticipates that the game should be completed by this time next year.Soooo.... it's still a year away. I'm filing this under 'TF2 and related games' for now, ok?

That's why you shouldn't bother posting news..or opinions anyway. Why don't you look at raven's trackrecord for development cycles or something?

Me:
With what you said in your last update http://www.bluesnews.com/plans/187/, I was wondering if this will stay true for Jedi Knight 2.
Brian:
Since Elite Force, John Carmack at id has made significant changes to the Quake III engine that allows for more vast level sizes. So rest assured, the levels in JK II will be much bigger than the ones in Elite Force.
Two things stand out with what he said. The Q3 engine will be modified a lot so it won't even look like q3. Second point is that Jon Carmack is still working on Q3? Wow. I thought the guy was gonna have his hands full with Doom. Well all this info makes me more interested in the game. :)
please no shacktags :(

You suck!
What they really mean is that computers next year will be twice as powerful so they can throw really high poly shit at us using the same old engine and our comp's won't chug. Maybe.

What I mean was Hexen was the sequel to Heretic as Jedi Knight was the sequel to Dark Forces...
Then Raven, being exellent game designers but not to keen on the concept of titles named the third installment of their Hexen/Heretic series, "Hexen II"... now they're calling "Dark Forces II: Jedi Night" "Jedi Knight 2"???
What the hell? I mean, tell me I'm being nitpicky, but what the fuck happened to calling it Dark Forces? Huh? Isn't this Dark Forces III? Are we just ditching that now? I'd personally like to see 'em call it by a totally different title but...
And, what the fuck, I thought Obiwan was Jedi Knight 2! AAAAHHHH. I'm confused.
And anyone else find it amusing that Raven has now done a game for both Star Trek AND Star Wars? Eeek. I wonder if there's any interesting internal conflict over series favoratism in there... hmmm... :)
