Q2 was a ton of fun. The old Heidi Ho custom map server was always hopping back in the day -- loved those brilliant maps by Renegade, ztn, Headshot, etc.... The game can't compare to Q1 for fury of pace, mood, weapons, or even sound, but it was a smacking good time.

Quake 1 QWCA is the bomb and still has a very large following, surprisingly. I prefer Software mode 320x200, it beats GLQuake hands down

q2ctf was the greatest. I have yet to find another game that can give me the pure adrenaline rush that q2ctf gave me. People who played it during its peek will understand. My clan plays cs now and they are die hard cs'ers and they will still say there it doesn't compare to q2ctf.

q2 is slow? Maybe on big DM maps and such. 8 on 8 rocket arena on edge; you can't call that slow.

RA2 forever.

Interesting. I haven't played Q2 multi since I graduated and lost a broadband connection, but I have an appointment for June1 to have a cablemodem installed, and Q2 is one of the games I'm really looking forward to playing online again.

Gotta say Q2 is good especially for DM. Not quite on a par with the refined and precise action of Quake duelling, nor the diverse mayhem of UT FFA / Teamplay, but still a very good DM game. The variety of trick moves, "smooth" physics, and having several fairly well balanced potent weapons is all good...
