New NWO Screenshots

The Termite Games site has been updated with 16 new screenshots from their upcoming team-based multiplayer game New World Order. Termite was first working on a game called Decay before they cancelled that and went to work on NWO. The shots certainly look good, and supposedly the game engine is now at a 2.0 stage using all the new videocard tricks. Termite hopes to have a gameplay movie next.

I've only just realised this is multiplayer only (stupid Shambler) ... guess I won't be looking at any more shots then. Pity, I liked the look of this one, reminded me of some of the better UT urban style maps. But MP only....nope.

I remember when the Decay shots came out. It was very clearly "WHOA..." These are still great, but now it's only "whoa".

So far this game has the edge over GlobalOps in level design (and shadows)
Can't really compare either game until we see some models and some playtesting. Hopefully these guys can pull together some good netcode.

Decay looked better... like they were made with 3D Studio MAX :). These NWO shots look like they are from Quake3.

Hell... This one looks like a Counter-Strike map.

It seems like all these new engine tricks do one or many of the following:

1) Show lime green and other irritating colors well
2) Look like cartoons
3) Or in this case, render BLACK VERY WELL.

Their engine and graphics rox0rs but there are way too many realistic tactical multiplayer shooters around.. Busy market. I sure hope this can provide something new to the genre :P

wow, those shots certainly look impressive. of course, we need to know if those shadows are pre-rendered, or created dynamically. if the latter, then i'm hella impressed. if the former, then this game = resident evil.
