The Adrenaline Vault has the news that Monolith's Tex Atomic's Big Bot Battles has been finished. This is not a retail game, but rather will be offered by Real.com in their RealArcade program later this month. While the first screenshots looked like they were gonna use colored lighting in a bad, bad way the latest screenshots that AVault has dont look all bad. So what is the game all about?

Tex Atomic's Big Bot Battles, gamers strap into giant fighting robots and compete in a lunatic combination of monster rig rallies, pro wrestling and conventional warfare. Gamers can customize their bot's chassis, weight, weapons and power generator before attempting the solo campaign against the computer or competing in one of four online game modes: Atomic Battleball, Tex's Space Race, Galactic Domination or BattleBrawl. Features include a total of nine fighting robots in three weight classes, ten futuristic weapons, and 13 outer space arenas. ...

  • Hrm...this game looks interesting I suppose. If not for the gameplay and graphics than for the public reaction to it. Serious Sam took off because it was a cheap game that was highly entertaining, and this game, I would think, would be cheap as well, and looks like it'd be entertaining (bright flashy colors and robots), only difference is it's being distributed online only (something I think should be a standard in today's broadband age), and we'll see how much of that Deer Hunter and Barbie Fashion Designer crowd actually shops online...
