the peice is from network card -> switch, NOT a crossover - and it's 8 wire TP 100mb, not 10mbit only and not a hub (does hub make a diff?)

I just passed the previous point of crash: installation of MSDTC. I guess that those files were corrupted before.
Now, installation is on the final four: Start Menu items, component registration, settings save, and deletion of the i386 temp directory.

I copied all of my necessary stuff to my second computer (ROTTENCARCASS), and once Win2K is running, I'll copy it back over the network. My second harddrive on my main computer (which has Q3, HL, and almost all of my MP3s) is unplugged to prevent shit from happening.
With a totally clean hard drive, I just can't imagine having that MSDTC error again (I think that a missing registry entry on the old installation caused it). Right now, the NTFS format is at 75%; wish me luck.
