According to The Inquirer Intel will be launching the 1.7ghz version of the Pentium4 for $350 next week. Currently the 1.5Ghz P4 is $519, the 1.4GHz is $375, and the 1.3 GHz one is $268 so they should all have a pretty big price drop. Saw that at Stomped.

  • Athlons are sweet, too bad ADM can't make a mainboard chipset 1/4 as good as most of Intel's. I run a PC shop and 95% of my on-site tech support goes to idiot AMD Duron/Athlon owners. And these are on top quality components, MSI & Asus mainboards, good drives and drivers etc..

While I can't remember the time I was asked for service on a i815 or i850 platform.

i820 aside, Intel's chipsets are just plain awesome and idiot proof.

VIA and thier 4in1-version-of-the-month really need to get thier act together (686B southbridge/ATA transfer bug anyone? That bug alone has caused me enough headache)
