The addition of colored fog to the Q2 engine is very well-done. As updates of the open_gl-enhanced Quake 1 engine have shown, fog is the way to breath greater nuance into these old engines. Lighting is handled very well, too - seems closer to the brilliant Q1 lighting model than to Q2.
Hell, I'd buy this if it came with an option to throw out all the RPG crap and just let me use the updated Q2 engine to run old dm levels on. ;)
does that look like JC Denton on the right? :)(Cameo?)

Back in 1985 when I was trying to figure out programming Basic on my Atari 800xl,I used to get this magazine that had tons of cool programs that you could type in yourself and use. Most of them were straight Basic and only marginally confusing, but a person named Tom Hall used to produce these very cool machine language things that were absolute TORTURE to type out. There were maybe 10 lines of code that were the data compiler bit,and the other hundred or so lines were blocks of data that needed to be copied exactly or else the machine would splort and you'd have to start alll over again. But the few I did get right, and managed to save on *shudder* cassette kicked ass for it's time. Was THAT Tom Hall and this one the same?
Kinda curious....
