There was a resistor on their board that shouldn't have been there. They got an older board revision.

You guys are kinda on to something, if you can wait then you're better off. The newer Athlon's will not only be faster, 1.5 Ghz in June I think I heard, but have that Palimino core which means cooler too. And of course, this time next year we'll prolly be up to 2Ghz, and all the bugs will be worked out of the DDR chipsets.

Or maybe Sledgehammer will be available... ;}

Either way you'll have a platform that will be able to play Doom 3 without extensive and expensive multiple upgrades, video card excluded. Seems as though this year, if you're running at 550+ Mhz with a Geforce whatever card, you'll be able to play all the games that are due out this calendar year. Maybe not very well (DNF?) but you'll be able to play them.

Aside that, what I've read at Toms Hardware, the motherboards with the AMD DDR chipset (761?) is still the best/fastest. I'll stick with my 900 T-bird/A7V mobo until I can double my processor speed.

I love my A7M266 DDR mobo with its 1.33(266) TB!

... now if only I could get those fan dB's down hehe.

Well thats the thing, you can always sit back and wait for something newer, faster, and more shiny. I'd love to go from my 566 celery to a 1.33 GHz T-Bird with DDR. And a rule I go by is that you never buy the first generation of something whether its cars, CPUs, motherboard, etc.

well this still does not entice me to get DDR at all

i'm hearing ALOT of rumours on PC3200 spec stuff which is alot faster.(double PC1600, the slower of the 2 DDR's now)

266mhz = will be gone in 6-12months if not less.... i might sit back and wait..
