NVidia & KyroII Response
by Steve Gibson, Apr 07, 2001 3:45pm PDTThe other day a bit of a stink was made about a document NVidia was sending around attempting to convince them that their product was the best and the KyroII was poo-poo. NVidia put out a statement claiming the document was only intended for sales teams. Well the document did get out into the public and the poo-poo smell spread not because of the fact that NVidia was trying to convince people that their product was better, but how they were trying to do it. GamersDepot got a couple more responses from vendors who also had seen the document including Hercules:
"They are right to be scared, 3D Prophet 4500 will really be a great product. Street Date: May 16th, 2001" - Claude Guillemot, President, Hercules Technologies.as well as SharkyExtreme who was quoted in the document not being very happy about how their article was taken out of context:
While I understand a companies eagerness to highlight their product with the BEST points from a review, I was a little taken aback by this move. As you can see from the above quotes, I was thoroughly impressed by the price/performance ratio of the KYROII, and hope that this clarifies that SE's review of the card yielded positive results."
