Hired Team Demo

First thing I did was bump up to 1024x768x32. When starting it crashed hard.

Third thing I did was uninstall this piece of shit.

I tried this demo out... really, the only cheese thing about it is the mapping. It's good, but semi-amatuerish. The game is really a mix between UT/Quake3A themselves in style, but is really quite good. All the weapons are equal in strenght but vary in different ways. I know this sounds weird but when pitting an mp5 against a rocket launcher it's anybodies game.

For real, this game has a lot more promise than any of the latest American games i've seen for a while, and i think that we should encourage foreign game developers like Croteam to produce high-quality products for another market.

More games is in no way a bad thing... except if your scumsucking greed bastards like Verant and Carmack who lie to you at every turn and then when your not looking they sneak into your house and kidnap your wife and kids and the next thing after that you have kak files in your mail and it burns when you pee and you have to take viagra and ...

Personally I think this is good (compared to a lot of the other tripe out there). The physics feel solid, the weapons in the demo are good and the graphics are fairly respectable though thatÂ’s hardly an important issue in a game of this type. People are complaining that there are only 7 weapons, but Quake only had 3 weapons worth using and thatÂ’s still the best multiplayer game of all time.

Obviously the maps need a bit of sorting out, but then we havenÂ’t really seen many of them so the other could be good.

If id released this everyone would play it, but because some Russians released it most people wonÂ’t give it the time of day. If there are 2 or 3 decent maps in the full game then IÂ’d sure as hell rather play this than Quake 3. I havenÂ’t played a PC game for a while, so IÂ’m up for a purchase.

This game definitely has a similar feel to Quake (obviously it doesnÂ’t come close to itÂ’s perfection, but no other game has) so hopefully a few more Quakeworld players will buy so IÂ’ll have someone to play against.

The rest of you, well IÂ’ll leave you bored shitless playing Quake 3 where every game is the same and the physics change with each point release.

Jeez some of those screens look like SUCH a blatant Quake wanabee.

Wow. Maybe if they hired a new texture artist, a new mapper (especially a new mapper), a new AI programmer, and had a NEW idea, this game might be worth checking out when it's released.

If this had come out when Q1 was new, it would still be a loser.

I'd just like to say that about 25% of the textures in this game are stolen.
For instance, go into water, and look down. The ripple animated texture is the EXACT same as the one from Quake III Arena. There are hanging flags from Q3A in here, there are UT textures, etc.
How the fuck do they think they can get away with THIS?

Only 7 weapons? Leme just scratch this off my "games to buy" list.

it plays well, save for the annoying sounds and textures. Also, c0bra, you should toss your pc out of a window. "Only 7 weapons?" since when do you need 25 weapons to make a game fun? I think this would still be fun with only 5 weapons. it depends on what type of weapons they are and how you use them... I'm sorry that you don't have the sk1lls to 0wn with 1 weapon.

the grenade sound is also ripped from q3a. I think the bots are quite erratic making them hard to hit. I think the engine is really nice though

I'm not normally this negative about things - cause alot of people say this about good screenshots (dickheads) - but in this case, this game really does look like ass..

I didn't like the other demo for this game, but I think I'll try this one. You know, just in case it magically won't make me think about tearing out my eyeballs. And boiling my motherboard, vid card, mouse, and keyboard.

Kay, I just played this.
Here's a quick wrapup:
Take UT and Quake III Arena, then combine them.
This is what you get.
With blander textures.
The footsteps sounded really cool at first, then they got annoying.
The jumping and movement at first were annoying, but once I got used to them they actually led to funner gameplay.
The bots difficulty ranges from moron to impossible very quickly and abruptly.

I wouldn't buy this game.

if these guys have their own engine I'd give it 7 out of 10.

very impressive for non-US base company. taking into account this and Serious Sam and you have some competition for id :) NOT hehe

This game looks decent enough; why the hell aren't Infogrames and Activision jousting over the rights to publish this?

I just hope that Interplay doesn't pick this up; Interplay really sucks at support.

The scenes in the shots look a little too much like this game is just an Unreal-engine mod, but I'll try it anyway. Perhaps the input code will be half-decent and the weapons will have a visceral impact.
