Intel P4 Speed Up
by Maarten Goldstein, Feb 16, 2001 11:42am PSTLooks like Intel is upping the voltage on the Pentium4. The 1.3,1.4 and 1.5Ghz parts will now have a core voltage of 1.75V ( it was 1.70V before ), they are available after April 6. The core voltage increase increases the yield and enables speed improvements.

intel needs to hire overclockers so that they can have better product. like how software companies shoud hire hackers to make better product. and like how locksmith should hire lockpickers to make better product.
what a bunch of stupid ingeneers at intel that dont hire overclockers to get the right voltage and bus speed. i bet they dont even know about the cpu multiplyer anymore . only the hardcore ocp people know what the real deal is yo! intel are dumb.

What if Intel wanted to cripple the P4? Think about it. They were in a contract with Rambus that they have publicly stated was a bad move on their part. The contract was only for the P4, no processors afterwards. By crippling the P4 and having it not sell well, they could effectively limit the lifespan of the product and get out of a bad contract with an evil company.
I don't think I've seen a single TV ad for the P4. They haven't made any significant revisions to their motherboard designs, either. It seems to me like a deliberate attempt to make the P4 fail and the only reason to do it is to get out of a bad contract.
Interesting...
