TA Map Pack Interview

Wow.....FOUR whole maps, and they're calling this an "official release"? I can go over to Planetquake.com/lvl and download hundreads of maps for free. Many done by the same people. G1zmo does some nice maps. Does Id think these maps are "great" because they exchanged a few emails with the designers? Id is only doing this in the face of the failure that was Q3:TA. It's a shame they're taking this pathetic direction now with Q3. First they released a pitifully small amount of maps in Q3 in order to make Christmas...it was NOT in any way "done" (and neither was Q2 when it hit shelves). Then, they announce they're doing an "official" mission pack. Too bad it was hardly original enough to get people to play it instead of other mods. Alliance CTF, RA3, and Weapons Factory are MUCH better than Q3:TA. I love Q3's engine, and still play it from time to time....but sorry, it's not NEAR as good as it should've been. Carmack is a genius programmer...maybe he should team up with a genius designer, such as Warren Spector and create a GOOD game.

regaurdless if you hate/love id, you got to admit the very mention of them invokes a lot of emotion. I see posts all the time for news bits about other games and maybe 6 people comment on it.

I really like TA but how do I get this map pack to work. I've extracted it to my Q3A but as far as I can see I don't have a new pk3 file there. And the maps don't show up in the single player or start server menu.

If id released Doom 3 with a Geeforce 3 card for free... people would STILL bitch..

Q3:TA is what Quake 3 should have been to begin with.

If you bought Quake 3 without seeing reviews and/or didn't like it .. ha ha.

Ugh, anyone else notice how slow Id's FTP server is? Xian should either upgrade the FTP server and raise the speed limit, or just mirror everything to ftp.cdrom.com on a daily basis.

Why are ppl suprised its free? Id didn't make the maps. As for beign babied I would have prefered 5-6 regular Q3 maps for 1v1 and tdm FREE rather than TA with its 'original' unplayed mods. Besides its good business to support your product. Next thing you release the people you have pleased with your free shit will surely buy.

Id needs to do the same for vq3. Theres a host of great maps out there waiting for recognition.
