Rogue Not Dead
by Steve Gibson, Feb 06, 2001 3:18pm PSTA little while ago we broke the story here that Electronic Arts had dropped the Rogue Entertainment project leaving Rogue in pretty much of a jam. However according to an email from the Rogue CEO contrary to some rumors they have not closed up shop just yet. Here's the deal:
Due to EA's untimely cancelation of our latest project, rumors about Rogue Entertainment's current situation have begun to circulate. We would like to assure everyone that we are still in business and still plan to continue making quality titles. The timing of the cancelation did leave us "in a lurch", but due to the success of Rogue's current title Alice, as well as our many previous releases, we have several options available to us. Once we have secured a title worthy of our team of highly skilled developers, we will inform the public.Coincidentally, Rogue was working on a Playstation2 port of Alice, wonder why it got canned?

Which is par for the course. You can't have the CEO coming out and making statements like "yep, we're fucked", now can you?

Bye Rogue!
Don't mind me, just practicing...
When Sega went about making the Dreamcast, they tried to make the environment much better for development and deployment of games. I think they even involved Microsoft in this?
This is what probably gave Microsoft the idea to do X-Box. Sega had the right idea, and not good enough execution. Microsoft, as they always do, gets the idea from someone else and puts a half billion behind it.
And then, oddly enough, Sony repeats Sega's mistake. Advantage: Microsoft.
