The guys at CGO have gotten the rare opportunity to actually play hands-on with Black&White from Lionhead which was recently delayed a little bit. (doh). There are a few screenshots but nothing can compare to our gigantic collection :)

The longer you play, the more you begin to realize that you are not the only god, which is why your main objective is to spread your influence and rule above all others.

  • In case some of you guys are too dim-witted to understand why there are "giant cows" and the like, is because of the game's concept. Many religions throughout time, believed that certain animals represented or actually were Gods. The point of the game, is that you get to play God.

However, since you yourself exist in another world (this real world), you have no substantial physical representation in the Black&White world. So, you find an animal like a cow or a tiger, and you start casting your godly magic on it. I assume that your magic starts out weak at first, but with the more worshippers that believe in you, your power grows. Therefore, your "giant cow" or "giant tiger" is mearly a puppet for your followers to actually see, worship, etc... all the while, believing that it is the actual God.

The game is all about feeding the power hunger in you. People have been known to enjoy huge amounts of power... in fact, "Absolute power corrupts absolutely".

I bet most the guys around here play as an evil God, who strikes down their dissident followers with bolts of lightening.

  • Even more surreal, as your creature grows it installs a web page on your hard drive and starts to list the things it likes to eat and stuff it likes to do. You can also upload the page to the web. Also, if you are playing music during the game, your creature will recognize it. When you punish your creature while listening to lets say...The Doors, then the next time Jim Morrison's voice rings through your speaker or headphones, your creature will get upset and even angry. Maybe you were petting your creature while listening to Beck. He'll add that to his web page and enjoy listening to Beck every time you play his music. (How Pavlovian.) They've added more little delights, but listing everything would ruin the fun.

Thats fucking cool. Play NIN or creature starts whimpering, play the beatles it get happy.
