Unreal Warfare Engine
by Steve Gibson, Jan 23, 2001 7:16am PSTFGNOnline has an interview and screenshots of the latest incarnation of the Unreal engine which will assumedly be utilized in the upcoming Unreal Warfare game that Epic is currently working on. One of the big knocks on Unreal and UT was the relatively low poly count of world geometry. Take a look at those screenshots though, looks like Sweeney hasnt been slouching.
... really taking advantage of the kind of graphics power that Xbox will offer and high-end PCs currently offer. The screen shots I sent out to licensees today illustrate levels that 150 to 200 times more detailed than what we did in games like Unreal and Unreal Tournament.

I just loved the freedom in Fallout2, its the only rpg ive ever played where i felt i could just exist in the game world and not do anything other than what i wanted to do. Want to travel to cities that arnt even involved in completing the game? Sure you can do that. Want to become a feared and notorius henchman for a selection of organised crime bosses? Sure. Want to spend hours trolling the desert blasting the shit out of countless raiders, bounty hunters, travelers and bums? Sure. Want to crusade thro a quest to save your home town? Sure. Want to spend your days fucking h0's and get married? Sure.
The game is just a perfect example of pure pure pure brilliant gameplay. This game didnt get the recognition it deserved.

About "Multiple editor enhancements including: new texture alignment tools..." blah, blah, blah. The one enhancement that I really want to see is the very good documentation of the editor and hence god damn help tab working I mean hello?!?!! Not all of us are fucking ace-level-builders!!!!
But besides that I'm impressed. Thanks guys.
Those arches sure looked nice, but how many fps did it take to get that shot?
BRING IT ON!
Thanks!
