So we all know that the id folks are working on DOOM, and the Valve guys are working on TF2 and assumedly HL2, but what about Epic? Unreal2 is being worked on by the folks at Legend.. Unreal Tournament2 then? Almost, Unreal Warfare according to PCUK (Thanks Mike)

In an e-mailed release schedule that PC GAMER UK received today, Infogrames perhaps inadvertently revealed that a sequel to Unreal Tournament is indeed on the way. [...] Unreal Warfare sits in the rather vague release column - TBD - To Be Decided.
So what do we know about Unreal Warfare? Uh.. the name? Judging from that though it's probably a safe bet to say its along the lines of multiplayer, possibly massive multiplayer? CliifyB come out from the bushes! update: FGN Online got in contact with Epic's Mark Rein, who said
Unreal Warfare is the title of our next game and one of our worst kept secrets. Aside from the title, we're not ready to say anything else about the project at this point
The FGN story also mentions that Unreal 2 will be playable behind closed doors at this year's E3.

  • XWing and TieFighter were always my favorite space sims (in responce to the prophecy sub thread).

#299...well I think you might have a point on multiple modes, but I think alt-fire is a double edged sword gameplay wise. I think HL did it best by only using alt fire stuff on a few weapons (where it made sense). I think that when you start putting in alt fire every which way you make map design/and control difficult because you can't just say "I'll put weaponX over here to do such and such with this area and maybe make it a focal point of control." I think alt fire adds a surface complexity, but I also think it can also destroy a more subtle underlying level of complexity as well. Personally I'd prefer more weapons, than extra firing modes (but I've always been kinda turned off by alt fire...). I also don't like the whole load up 6 rockets and fire thingy; it's just a little too spammy for my tastes...but I have odd tastes. UT is a great game and I play it and Q3 both (basically because I have gripes with both of them).
