There has been a typo in the press regarding this wonderful new invention. "IT" is actually called "iT" as in "internet Teleporter". This amazing device will allow human transportation through the Internet. Eventually users may decide they may not want to reach their destination and choose to hang out in the Internet. Soon societies will develop and reproduce in the Internet itself. Folks, this is only the beginning...of THE MATRIX!

My guess(not reading 1200+ posts) is that IT is a energy device. probably the stirling engine that Deka has been working on for the past five years. Kamen has been trying to get it down to the size of a briefcase or smaller. My guess is that it is going to be introduced through one of those scooters.

If this is just another "Eat this pill to make your dick grow" schemes, count me out.

As anyone in last night's ER can attest, I was seriously disturbed by this story yesterday. To that end, I undertook an investigation into the facts and have come up with the following conclusions:

- This is not a hoax, or a disproportional amount of hype for an otherwise 'ordinary' product.

- The product is obviously a means of personal transport.

- There is no doubt that this product is revolutionary, yet it may employ very simple components and mechanics.

- While the inventor is a genius in the field of heavier than air flight, it is very unlikely that this product in any way 'flies'. This includes a hovercraft of any form, and any kind of personal helicopter.

- The product may be pedal operated, and if not the engine and fuel are very efficient and clean, possibly based on his Stirling research.

- This device would need it's own pathway, but not because of a reliance on maglev rails or anything other than a hard surface.

- It's safe, which means it's not a jetpack or anything that would ever leave the ground to any height.



Possibilities as to what it may be:

- One wheeled vehicle, a kind of sitting/standing powered unicycle.

- A contraption somewhat like a stair-glider on scissorjacks, that allows you to take giant, bouncy steps with ease.

- Something so fantastic and jaw-dropping that it will make mortal men shit in their pants upon witnessing it in action.

Not to burst your bubbles, it said the creator made one from the contents of two dufflebags of parts and some simple tools (screwdriver, etc) for a demonstration.

Analyze the facts: Its not really possible that it is a scooter, even a scooter that flies, or even a jet-car or something like that that hovers. Because fitting a car or something that moves into the market does not define as "bigger than the internet." To get a city to change its organizational plan (As is implied) might be the result of a floating scooter, however, it is doubtful that a) it can be produced for under 2000 dollars (And if it were, it would have a slim profit margin and would therefor not make the company that much money), and that it can gain the appropriate market share to make it viable. Something that is such a fundamental change as the internet needs to have long-range effects across the globe. It needs to applicable in a cash scrapped nation like Zimbabwe, it needs to be applicable in cities (Where young, hip, and open minded consumers are rampant) and it needs to effect people with a differant sensation than they have ever had. Its not the wheelchair, that is going to cost approximately 20,000. I seriously doubt a floating scooter would have that amount of impact. A teleporter? It is possible but improbable. The physics necessary to get a teleporter to work would require (unless something is developed differantly) a supercomputer the size of the earth, literally. This stumps me.

However, it is most likely that the invention is something with a basic common application. Like velcro, or electricity, or the engine. Something that fundamentally changes the way more than one industry does business. Try to think in that regard: water based engine, seamless communication method... anti gravity boots
