StarWars 2 Trouble
by Steve Gibson, Dec 28, 2000 2:26pm PSTJust because, here's a story talking about the next StarWars movie prequel (Thanks Eric) on AICN which was put together from IMDB and the official StarWars page that the latest rought cut of the movie was previewed at ILM. The news? Well one of the producers says something along the lines of "At times, you have to face the truth of what you didn't get and what you hoped for." and also goes on to say that Lucas and the other producer are stressing a bit more than usual having to 'rework' the film.
George and Rick are"stressing" over a major reworking of the storyline. It's putting deadlines back and makes our work extremely frustrating. There are whispers that Spielberg is coming on board to help with the editing and story.

Unfortunately for movie audiences and even for the old man himself, "Star Wars" is a property more than anything else -- the world's biggest franchise cashcow. That is why there will be another movie, and that is why he is "stressing."
And what is the most macabre and unhappy part of the story? If this movie doesn't do well, there will be many, many people in the Star Wars biz who will want Lucas to go away, to just disappear, bugger off, retire, so that the empty artless cashcow can be turned over to someone able to infuse it with some new crap/gimmick/character/buzzword etc. etc., and get the franchisees riding high on the hog again....

Now 2001. That movie will never be topped. Never. It still stands up to this day for effects, plot, writing. Some argue it's one of the few movies ever to change politics. (Apocolypse Now amongst that elite.)

Ok this is all supposed but after months of work this is what most people suspect will happen in episode2.
Episode 2 is based mainly around the clone wars and as such most of the film is based around fighting (w00t) and lightsabre stuff. After senator palpatine gains his political power that we saw him garnering in episode 2 he secretly ammasess an army of cloned warriors (storm troopers, yes all storm troopers are cloned from 1 warrior.) He realises with this army and his politcal power the only thing in his way from ruling the galaxy is the jedi. So he sets about eradicating them, the first key to this is gaining the alligence of potentialy most powerful jedi, skywalker, however it is not so easy to turn him. Obi wan is captured and cloned and the clone is sent to Tatooine to murder Anakin's mother, this is all set up to anakin witnesness this. Remember what yoda said about fear leading to hate and then to dark side? This is what this reffers to, the fear of losing his mother and then doing so leads him to hate Obi wan and turns him to senator palpatine and he gradually gets turned to the dark side. Together they rule the galaxy and erradicate all the jedi apart from Obi wan who escapes and Yoda. However towards the end of the movie Obi and Anakin meet in a final battle on a lava planet which results in anakin being taused into some molten lava scarring and almost killing him, resulting in him needing his Darth Vader suit.
Other things known, before anakin is adopted as palpatines new apprentice he has another "darth" who is played by christopher walken and is described as a form of vampire ( he dies early in the movie)
There have also been rumours than the Obi Wan Clone eventually becomes that very famous bounty hunter we all know and love, however he doesnt have obi wans force powers as the "mediclorine" thingies cant be cloned.
Thats all thats known so far :)
Remember this is guess work so it might not be 100% accurate.

Now, as an adult, watch the original Star Wars Trilogy and the Indiana Jones Trilogy, and tell me, which one has better direction, screenplay and acting? Speilberg's trilogy, without a doubt.
Speilberg is a true master with a lengthy resume of excellent work; Jaws, Close Encounters, ET, Schindler's List, Pvt. Ryan, and the Indy movies...
Lucas got lucky and hit one out on his first at bat. He might have gotten better but he got fat and lazy, and the rust showed up all over episode 1.
I for one was not suprised one bit when Episode 1 came out and it was total garbage. We're too old to have the wool pulled over our eyes SFX and a CG Step 'n Fechit....

I *liked* Episode one. I even enjoyed it. And before you call me an idiot i am a fan of movies (good ones) and i consider myself a harsh critic of movies. Personaly i dont think Episode could in any way have lived up to our expectations. The thing i find most funny is that people are always saying how much they loved the original trilogy and how brilliant they were, then in the next sentance they scrutenise over the shitness of the original trilogy. Example : "Episode1 sucks compared to the first 3 movies, they were amazing .... except for the ewoks, jaba, the cloud city the cheesey story line, the mediocre directing, and the below average acting.
People forget the Star Wars trilogy have ALWAYS been silly and a bit childish, difference was the first time you seen them you were a kid so it went over your head. If you compare Jar Jar he is practicly the same as C3P0, if you were to see a movie today with a character like c3p0 you'd laugh your ass off at how pathetic and irritating it is.
We're all jaded :)

In return of the jedi just out side the bunker on endor, princess leia gets hit by a laster blast, and solo covers her he then picks her up. Rewind this in slow motion and watch carefuly, in a very quick subtle move solo squeeses her tit just before picking her up. Quite funny :)

But, it will be pretty hard to screw up Episode 3... I mean, supposedly that's the one in which Vader hunts down and destroy's the Jedi. I'm expecting a good 50% of the movie to be pure lightsaber/force battles :) ownage.
