I don't cheat at couterstrike and i went 141/41 last night on an all dust server :) take that cheaters! what's funny about it is my name was LPBCHEATER. heheehh

I just don't understand WHY the hell CS was included in the first place.

First, it's not a full game, second, with it's multi-year beta, shouldn't it be LAST year, anyhow? Why not put half-life or Unreal Tournament since there were new releases of those games this year?

The only game that I like out of that entire list is Team Arena. It's the only game I've bought this year.

Next year will be a big year for me with 3 purchases!

slimjim, wanna play alil Q3TA when i open it for Xmas? i own in the dem version =o) i use to love counterstrike, but i think im done with the HL engine....very blah, and q3 seems to run smoother then it (go figure)

although i do give credit to the Alice team (i think they utilized graphics and everything better than ID did on the q3a engine). well it looks pretty and runs smooth, q3a is too demanding for my tnt2u (on a 733/133).
everything else runs fine.

Define a game, tell me what it's not, and then feebly try to fit Counter-strike in there.

By your logic, any game that isn't completely built from scratch is not counted as a game... like elite force, NOLF, half-life...

There is a reason most webpages don't vote for game of the year. All it takes is a couple of popular fanpages to link to here and the results get skewed. That is the reason why Counter-Strike and Diablo 2 are doing so well.

This really isn't a poll for game of the year, it is a poll of which game has the most expansive on-line community. Mostly multiplayer games like Counter-Strike and Diablo 2 have a large advantage over mostly single player games like the rest of the list. They should limit voting to registered users if they want the voting to be fair. Notice that Deus Ex had a rather large lead over Counter-Strike in the first couple of hours of the poll when only people who visit the Shack regularly knew about the poll, but after a couple hours word spread about the poll and Counter-Strike suddenly had a large lead.

I guess it depends on whether they want the voting to be representative of how regular viewers of the Shack feel or how viewers of whatever fan page that linked to the poll feel. One thing I know for sure is that the second way will get more hits for the page.

I think we should blame those anons lurkers for CS's lead. They are the ones who can't tell apart a game from an add on. :D
