Giants With Clothing
by Steve Gibson, Dec 06, 2000 2:54pm PSTAs many people know Giants: Citizen Kabuto went gold a little while ago. Well Jason over at BluesNews got word from the publishers yesterday that after putting out all those screenshots of the game and all the previews, the decision has been made to put clothing on the formerly topless Delphi character, and they have changed all the blood from red to green. Interesting that they just didnt go with a "Violence toggle" or something of that nature. Anyone think other games may start going this route? Are those 'murder simulator' accusations finally making a difference? update by Maarten: Gamers.com has received word from Interplay that a blood patch will be released, however no word on a "skin" patch. Stomped also has some comments from Planet Moon's Tim Williams.

Nevertheless, we live in a weird society. Americans can't handle the sight of tits the way Europeans can. Stroll down the street in Paris: whoah, there's a billboard with 15-ft knockers beaming down on you. Or go up to a cigarette kiosk in Athens: yowza, check out the hardcore pr0n in the window!
But go to the Best Buy down the block and the blue-skinned chick in the video game has to wear a bikini. Shit, will we ever grow up?

Dec. 6, 2000 | LOS ANGELES (AP) -- USA Network canceled production of a television movie about two drug-tampering deaths after a major pharmaceutical advertiser complained it was inappropriate.
The cable network said Wednesday it pulled the plug on "Who Killed Sue Snow?" on Nov. 22, five days before filming was to begin in British Columbia. The movie was based on the 1986 deaths of two Seattle-area residents who took cyanide-laced Excedrin.
The cancellation followed objections by Johnson & Johnson, whose subsidiary manufactures Tylenol.
The New Brunswick, N.J.-based company threatened to pull all advertising at the network and ask other drug companies to do the same, the Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday, citing anonymous sources involved in the project.

I always said that US are blind to a lot of very simple stuff... such as sex. What do you think will happen if people don't fill their need of sex? They will always look for other ways such as Internet, magazine, video. Actually I don't believe that US people thinks anything but violence and sex because of their policies.
On a side note, maybe we will see very soon all US games similar to German/canadian games: No red blood, no sex... no fun.
