3dfx Cards Break On P4's
by Jack Mathews, Nov 30, 2000 7:53am PSTHere's another interesting tidbit on the P4 situation (thanks Kyle Bridges). The Register is reporting that Voodoo 3 and Voodoo 5 AGP cards do not work on Pentium 4 motherboards. Voodoo 4 owners can breathe easy though, because those parts work. Here's a small FAQ on 3dfx's site showing nice pictures to demonstrate the problem and how to know if your hardware will work. Apparently, Intel's mobo's are breaking the AGP spec (that they wrote) and not putting a 3.3V connecter on the AGP slot. It seems though that no other graphics cards except for the AGP Voodoo 3 and Voodoo 5's have this problem. So basically, this puts 3dfx up shit's creek. It'll be 3dfx screaming "Hey, why didn't you support the standards?" and Intel screaming back "Why didn't you design your boards the same way as everyone else?"

We get proper NHL Ice hockey (sometimes live) at least twice a week over here on TV. Man the Blues vs Maple leafs game was awesome to watch - going into the 3rd 5-0 down and winning 6-5 in O.T is pretty amazing.

I am not now nor have I ever been a democrat. I voted for harry browne, and libertarian all the way, unless there was no libertarian cantidate, in which case I voted republican (in the local elections)
I am just really interested to see who the president actually is....
and I don't like arbitrary time limits on something as important as a recount.

It really bugs me when people say these people are to dumb to vote, it is obvious there was a problem 10,000 people is what we are talking about. when 10,000 people make the same mistake it isn't because they are all REAL dumb it is because there was a problem with the way things were done.

Lets look at it the OTHER way...
1) Machines counted and recounted all the votes and other guy still lost. Bush was proclaimed winner 4 times!
2) He said he will admit defeat and concede after all the votes have been recounted. They have been. He still hasn't conceded.
3) He says that ALL votes have to count. He went to courts and asked for a recount of only democratic district votes. He also blocked military votes from being counted because some were missing a postmark. In a military/war zone, do you have postoffices??? He doesn't care about those votes because they are not in his favor.
4) He went to courts and it all went to Supreme Court of Florida and EVERY member of SCF has been appointed by Democrats. Not even ONE republican apointee.
5) His lead attorney, David Boise, is under an invastigation for filing false affidavid in the Florida court (he tried to fool the judge).
6) Day after voting he sent in Jesse Jackson to start racial riots and protests. When republicans protested, they were called Nazis by Rep. Nadler of NY and a "mob" by media. Calling a bunch of people Nazis because they don't agree with them is propostorous.
7) Asking that Florida's electoral votes don't count is just a way of him going over the top when electoral college meets.
8) Counting dimples which meen nothing is anal.
9) But hey... He INVENTED the fucking Internet!!!! Can't beat that!

That said, it's amusing to watch the Republicans insist they have "won" anything. What a monumental victory! The loser of the popular vote squeaks into office as the beneficiary of a backwater state's crappy old voting machines, riding the high tide of uncounted votes, discarded votes, illegally doctored votes, and refused-to-be-counted votes. Meanwhile, just in case his sham victory can't stand up in court, his brother's legislature readies itself to ensure that he's "elected"!
George W. Bush, President of Florida! Ha ha ha! Please, do let him take office -- the comedy will be endless and hilarious.
Bush won. Get over it. Whether there SHOULD be a revote, more recounts or whatever, it's NOT going to happen. It's over, for better or worse, correct or incorrect.
Al Gore is becoming a matyr for the democratic party. He's a puppet at this point. He looks more like an ass every day he fights it. Al Gore is going to pay the price for his party on this one.
