Voodoo5 Drivers Fast?
by Steve Gibson, Nov 30, 2000 3:13am PSTHrm, so is it too late for 3dfx? I sure hope not, the more competition the better. If you just look at hardware the V5-5500 should really be getting higher benchmarks than it has been in the past. Well the latest 3dfx driver release has a new option called remove hidden surfaces. The result? Benchmarks moving up quite a bit, and actually becoming competitive? Well, almost. If anyone has a V5 handy and feels like giving it a try let us know.

3dfx released an option that speeds up their cards, and offers gamers a chance to tweak there FPS.
this is a good thing for the gaming community :P
I make no promises, and with that I must go back to bed and hope I wake up well. Being sick sucks ass!

I've had my V3 2000 for I think a bit more than a year now, which I bought for not more than 130 dollars. It has never once given me trouble, as it is the standard for most every core game out there. Did anyone buy a geforce 2 at the same time Deus Ex came out? Hmm, how did it run?
I don't care how fast a cards architecture is. An extra 200 dollars and a lot of wack-ass driver problems isn't worth it to me for higher FPS.
suck it down
I only said it was useless until it is sustainable at all resolutions and colordepths with little or no performance decrease
If you can run it in any resolution and have your framrate never dip below at least 60fps, then that is the time that FSAA will truly be a thing of beauty. Until then i'd rather have smoother framerates than smoother edges.
I'm not ragging on FSAA OR saying that its better on Geforce's or whatever because it plainly isn't.
You people need to infer less and takes more comments at face value.

Since it is beta it would be nice to get it finalized.
AirGibson? I knew sTeve was a 3dfx fanboy!
Especially if they can incorporate this into the Rampage drivers as well.
pup (sorry)
