Weekend Wrap-up
by Maarten Goldstein, Nov 27, 2000 7:35am PSTIt's been a long weekend with Thanksgiving and all, so here's a look back at a couple of things that happened.
- On Wednesday night we received id's early holiday present in the form of the Quake3 Team Arena demo, which weighs in at 120mb.So. And what did you do?
- Thursday; rumored NV20 speed, a demo of Shiny's 3D action RTS Sacrifice and screenshots from the TA demo that shows some new terrain level.
- And then on Friday there were several Team Arena related items in the form of forum posts and a .plan update.
- And even more Team Arena posts on Saturday. And our frontpage now uses compression, which should make the loading of the site speedier for most of the people, especially those on modems.
- Would you believe it, even more Team Arena news as Todd was going around the messageboards. Robert Duffy posted that the big FPS drop that some people were experiencing in Team Arena has been fixed.

Drank a lot of beer, smoked a little weed, hooked up with a few girls...
My weekend was like the move "Go" just without the gay men, the rave, or the drug dealer and the large ammounts of Extacy.
but other then that...it was pretty similar.
I have a phone numer in my wallet but I dont remeber what the girl looks like, she could be butt ugly. Do I call?
I wasn't impressed with Team Arena. They're doing the same thing that every successful company does to get more novice players; lots of arrows to show the way, lots of little hints, etc.
Wizards of the Coast did this with Magic: The Gathering a while back; that's when I stopped playing. Ruining the game for experienced players by making it easier for novices sucks ... why not just let the novices learn how to play and gain experience like everyone else did? Trial by fire is the only way to make a game fun...not by making the game itself easier.
