Duke4 Poll
by Maarten Goldstein, Nov 27, 2000 7:36am PSTWe usually try to ignore the Duke4 forum posts (hi George!), but since this message was one where George asked for input on what multiplayer type you would rather see, I thought it would be good to mention here, see what the hardcore crowd thinks. I'm pretty sure that I know which one will receive the most votes
What type of team based game do you want to see in DNF? 1) Standard CTF 2) Class based Team game (ala Team Fortress or CounterStrike).George later mentions they are not interested in making a clone, so it's not like we will definately see Duke Nukem Fortress if most of you decide a team game. Also, if you were hoping to see some new screenshots soon (it's been like a year), don't count on it as they will probably only release some new ones close to release.

When you reach the base, there is a big harem like area where you drop them off. You have to protect that area from players on the other team or they will steal your babes. Power-ups should include Ferrari keys, Platinum AmEx, Viagra, and the "Holo-Babe" to distract the enemy.
The losing players all turn into CliffB at the end of the round.
If they wanted to add the class concepts, they could have the "ladies man" who is fast and lightly armored, but has a better chance of getting a babe to follow him. The "strong-silent type" who can carry TWO babes, but either has to be accompanied by the "ladies man" or have one of the power-ups to get them. The "transvestite" who can mask himself as a babe in order to infiltrate the enemy harem and who has the special "Crying Game" attack.
With all those stripper models in the game, why not? Would be an absolute riot to play, if done right...
As for other types of multiplayer, you know, I'm really sick of all this Flag stuff. Capture this flag, hold that one. yeah, whatever.
And symetrical maps.... ya, fun........right.
I wanna see unique combat scenarios on each map....
Have 2 (or more!) teams, and give each team a differing objective.
For example, the map Town4, from QuakeWorld TeamFortress is a good example of what i am talking about. 3 teams, 2 rival crime gangs and a police team. The crime gangs have to damage each others drug labs, and the cops have to go round capturing suitcases filled with drugs for evidence.
Or what about a thing where each team is running a brothel. Both teams start out with 5 girls in their employ... and civilian npc's come into visit them. The teams get funding for their equipment (guns, grens, etc), based on how many customers their girls "entertain". They have to protect their girls from the enemy, and also stop the enemy from scaring their customers off. Of course, they have to try and do that to the enemy... get in and grab their girls, or scare off the enemy's customers....

#33, So far we have won all of those cases with flying colors and were able to collect in damage fees so in the end we have been making a profit on my lust for teenage twat.

1. They're still deciding CTF or not :)
2. Steve posted old screenshots.. (gasp!)
3. A game like this will make it into the stores without being put behind a curtained divide or electrified fence (Soldier Of Fortune, anyone?)
Cheers.

Nonetheless, I would prefer the second type of gameplay.

Have some (3 or so) supply trucks sitting in the middle of a map. On each supply truck is a nuclear bomb. Each team must successfully hop into a tank and drive it back to their designated safe-zone at their base. Once in this safe-zone, the trucks cannot be opperated by either team, hince "safe". While driving the vehicle, if the driver is killed, the truck can be picked up by anyone and taken to the area needed.
Dunno if that makes much sense, but I think it'd be a really fun gameplay mode with lots of strategies, interesting new map ideas, and some cool vehicle code! okay, maybe that last one isn't that important, but still..
